Day 28 - Dead Tree

This big oak tree just lost its leaves and died last summer.  We had 3 big oaks right in front of the house, and in fact we built the house further back on the lot to keep them.  One fell over in hurricane Claudet and this one died last year so only one is left.  Unfortunately this thing survived hurricane Ike so we will have to get it cut down.  It's just too close to the house for Steve to do it safely. 

Day 27 - Windows

This is the view out of my living room.  These windows are one reason we fell in love with the design of our house and chose the floor plan we did. 

Day 26 - Calvin

Here is Calvin.  He is our biggest kitty and has always been a challenge to photograph.  All I get are those green eyes in a big black blob.  I usually have to get him in natural light to take a decent picture. 

Day 25 - Obsession

While I spend time playing in photoshop and reading, Steve plays World of Warcraft.  He has two computers, one with a dual monitor.  When he isn't raiding with his guild he can play 3 characters at once to level and complete whatever quest he happens to be on.  I guess this is the fantasy setup for all the WOW playing teenagers out there.  It's amazing to me that so many adults play seriously and many play with their teenage children. 

Day 24 - Gold finches

I finally managed to sneak up on the feeder close enough to get a shot of our little finches having a snack.  They make such delicate little sounds. 

Day 23 - Completed AT-AT

Well here is the completed lego project.  This is the AT-AT tank from the Empire Strikes Back.  Alex is getting a good thorough Star Wars education with all these Legos!  For me, I just love the shadow effect in the sunlight!

Day 22 - Jasper

Just a quick post tonight.  Here is my favorite pest curled up in one of his favorite spots - my computer chair. 

Day 21 - Bird Feeder

We saw some finches recently so Steve bought a new feeder for them.  We think they are gold finches and they only visit us for a couple of weeks each year before they move on.  So we have a tempting treat waiting for them while they are here. 

Day 20 - Poofy Tail

Behold!  I have finally captured the elusive poofy tail phenomenon on film!  Here Jasper is valiantly guarding us from the visiting neighbors kitty on the back porch.  He is so brave behind his impenetrable force shield! 

This scene usually takes place after we are all in bed and lights are out so getting a shot of our little fighter has been a challenge.  He is the only one of our cats who seems concerned about the visitors.  This one is our little pest who gets into more trouble than the other two put together. 

Day 19 - Poor Baby

Alex came down with some flu like symptoms.  By the time we got  him home he just passed out on the stairs.  This is so not my child!  If he lays down and closes his eyes without a fight you know something is very wrong.  It turned out to be a long week.  As he was getting over the flu, he developed a sinus infection AND an ear infection.  But even sick he his such an angel when he is sleeping.
